Seminar on Transforming Use of Digital Resources & Book Fair

March 2, 2019 – SGPC’s GNIMS Business School Library and BKC Knowledge Network jointly organized Seminar on the Theme “Transforming Use of Digital Resources: Perspective of Library Users, Database Vendors and Librarians”. 

The Chief Guest was Sardar Satinderpal Singh Ji Ahuja, Honorary Consul of Georgia in the Republic of India and Chairman, G. N. Khalsa College Alumni Association. Keynote speaker was Ms. Poonam Karir Kanwal, co-Entrepreneurs Founder and Director Bindass Party.com.

The objective of the Seminar was relevant to the present scenario. E-resources have been there for many years but not used to its potential. The Seminar discussed the challenges faced and to understand the perspectives of the Librarians, Database Vendors and the Users on a single platform.

The idea behind this endeavor was to add transparency to the functioning and implementation of resources & programs. The entire academic field was introduced to new mediums of exploring resources and discovering ways and means to smoothen the functioning of dispersal and absorption of knowledge. There was a healthy discussion regarding digitalization and its impact. All the stakeholders shared their views, ideas and voiced their concerns for the same.

Additionally, a book fair was also organized on that day. Participants visited the book fair and recommended books for their Institutes.

Under the Corporate Social Responsibility GNIMS Business School joined hands with Ratna Nidhi Charitable Trust to further the cause of education by playing an important role in helping “Mission Million Books Donation Drive” meet its goal.

The Participants benefitted by the seminar and the presentations of the learned Resource persons, and will implement the knowledge gained about the latest trend in the market regarding the resources in their respective Institutes. The different initiatives undertaken by the librarians on promoting utilization of the e-resources as well as to increase the reading amongst their Users was appreciated by the participants.

The dignitaries and the participants appreciated the efforts taken by the GNIMS Library Team and BKC Knowledge Network to successfully organize this Seminar. All the participants were awarded certificates.
