GNIMS CDC: Helping hand in Building Career

What enables a student to achieve the goals in his life? Apart from education, every student requires guidance to kick-start his career on the right track. Getting the degree is surely an achievement to be applauded for, but winning a job based on it is the ultimate victory! At GNIMS Career Development Cell (CDC), it is taken as utmost priority to groom the students for cracking through the recruitment process with ace. They train the students through series of Aptitude Tests, Weekly sessions on Personality development, Workshops on Industry orientation and Mock interviews. Not just that, but they even act as a guiding star in student’s life by arranging Mentoring sessions through External Mentors from the Industry. Also, the strong alumni network of the institute aids the existing students land golden career opportunities.

These learnings were put to test during the Pool Campus Placement held at GNIMS Business School. HDFC and Capital First Ltd. – two of the most reputed and booming organisations of the Finance Industry had arrived in search of the diamonds in a mine full of budding professionals. PGDM and MMS Students across many colleges including Swami Vivekananda Institute of Management Studies and Amity Business School had applied for the placement drive and HDFC had invited them to the pool campus hosted at Guru Nanak Institute of Management Studies (GNIMS). Students at GNIMS were assisted by Prof. Satroop Madam and counselled by Dr. Satvinder Singh Bedi from CDC for completing the application procedures. Amongst the numerous applications submitted to HDFC, 111 candidates got shortlisted, who received the login credentials for the Online Aptitude test. Some candidates appeared for the Aptitude Test from home while others utilized the well-equipped computer facilities available at GNIMS campus.

After clearing the aptitude test, the participants were refined to 44 candidates for the next round – Group Discussion (GD). This was an exuberant GD round where the selected candidates battled their wits against each other while maintaining a professional spirit, strengthening their position to acquire the targeted job in their desired organisation. All participants were challenged by various topics on current affairs, business & economy. Later, from the finest candidates of business caliber who qualified for Personal Interview (PI) round, 19 of them got selected for Final Placement. GNIMS Students earned 4 strong positions in Finance and 1 promising position in Marketing from the horde of professionals fighting for the same. HDFC also hired 19 bright GNIMS candidates for their Summer internship program. 2 Bright students earned prestigious positions in Capital First Ltd.

This event was a success as could be witnessed through the number of applicants and the candidates who bagged the Summer internships and Final Placement. It was the skills honed at GNIMS and support from its Career Development Cell (CDC) via their Inbound and Outbound Experiential Learning that the worthy students could start their career with such a prestigious organization.
